The 2018 Land Rights Act recognises private, public, government and customary land. Customary ownership may be supported by competent evidence beyond a written deed, including oral testimony and long-standing community relationships.

What this means on the map

Customary land is never labelled as unowned simply because no digital deed exists. Community territories appear as their own layer, mapped through participatory boundary identification.

Privacy for communities

Sensitive community information is restricted to authorised officers and community representatives.
