Liberia Land Authority Act (2016)
Establishes the Authority with functions covering deed and land registration, surveying, the national cadastre, land governance and customary tenure.
Land Rights Act (2018)
Recognises private, public, government and customary land. Customary ownership may be supported by competent evidence beyond a written deed, including oral testimony and long-standing community relationships.
LLA-approved deed form (from 1 January 2026)
Newly prepared deeds must use an LLA-approved form, be verified and approved by the Authority before submission to the Probate Court, and then be registered according to its requirements.
